Israel registered 1,069 new COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, the Health Ministry revealed Thursday morning -- the first time in more than a month the figure climbed over the 1,000 mark.

With over 60,000 tests conducted in the past 24 hours, the positive test ratio stood at 1.8 percent.

The country's death toll throughout the pandemic is at 2,826, the latest figures reveal, the same as the tally reported Wednesday night, meaning the total is likely to be updated in the subsequent reports.

With 9,422 active cases in the country, some 10 patients are currently in hospitals.
