The Hamas terror organization warned Israel on Wednesday that "fire will be met with fire" after the IDF launched retaliatory strikes on the Gaza Strip. 

The IDF hit Hamas targets early Wednesday morning after a salvo of projectiles were launched at the Jewish state, with the military saying at least 13 rockets were fired at Israel.

Israel Defense Forces reported sirens going off just before dawn on Wednesday in communities surrounding the Gaza Strip after a night of cross-border violence.

"Earlier tonight, rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip at Israeli territory," the IDF said in a statement. "In response, a short while ago, IDF fighter jets and attack helicopters struck Hamas military targets in the Gaza Strip."

The IDF reported a total of 13 rockets from Gaza throughout the night, of which eight were struck down by the Iron Dome rocket defense system. Read more at i24
