DM Gantz holds talks with Minister Ohana on police and IDF cooperation to enforce lockdown

Israeli Defense Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz said Monday Israelis should prepare for a prolonged lockdown over the course of the upcoming Jewish holidays.

“I think this lockdown will be around three weeks to a month and hope the data will be good enough in order to shorten it,” Gantz told broadcaster Channel 12.

The Jewish state has been facing growing figures of coronavirus infections, prompting the country’s leadership to reimpose the extreme measure in order to curtail morbidity rates.

Later on Monday evening, the former military chief met with Public Security Minister Amir Ohana to discuss cooperation between Israel Police and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in enforcing the nationwide lockdown and coronavirus restrictions. Read more at i24
