Gaza rulers reportedly base truce agreement on situation in Jerusalem, West Bank, Israeli prisons

Egyptian officials were reportedly "surprised" by the conditions that a Hamas delegation said were necessary to continue the ceasefire that ended May's 11-day conflict with Israel, a Hamas source told London-based pan-Arab news outlet Al-Araby Al-Jadeed on Tuesday.

During a visit to Egypt on Tuesday, the delegation headed by the movement’s leader, Ismail Haniyeh, conditioned the truce agreement on the situation in Jerusalem, the West Bank and in Israeli prisons, the Hamas source said.

The meeting took place in Cairo with Egypt's Intelligence Minister Maj. Gen. Abbas Kamel, with the Egyptian delegation reportedly saying that it would be hard to connect the issues as a condition for maintaining the ceasefire that Egypt brokered.... Read More: i24
