Suspect arrested as police hail 'strong response' from public after releasing CCTV images of assailant

The UK police arrested Monday a 27-year-old suspect in the deadly stabbing in Birmingham, central England.

The man is now in custody and is being questioned, the police said, announcing a charge of murder and seven counts of attempted murder.

The arrest was made early in the morning after the police released screen grabs from security camera footage showing the purported assailant.

“Officers worked through yesterday and into the early hours of this morning in a bid to trace the man we believe responsible for these terrible crimes," Birmingham Police Commander said. 

Chief Superintendent Steve Graham also thanked the public for the "strong response" to the call for assistance in identifying the suspect. Read more at i24
