Gunmen from the Islamic State’s (IS) Sinai Province seized a shipment of rockets bound for the Gaza Strip, Palestinian sources told i24News Arabic on Tuesday.

IS’s branch operating in Sinai snatched the cargo last week in Egypt’s desert region bordering Israel as it was being smuggled by arms dealers for either Hamas or the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.

The shipment contained dozens of advanced ‘Grad’ missiles that have a range of 37 to 50 miles (60-80 km) — enough to reach the Tel Aviv area from the Palestinian enclave.

The shipment most likely came from Libya and may have originated in Iran, sources suggest.
