Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in Washington, D.C., on Monday ahead of Tuesday's historic ceremony at the White House.

Netanyahu is set to sign accords to normalize Israel's ties with the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain -- a regional breakthrough that US President Donald Trump brokered.

"On the way to bring peace in exchange for peace," Netanyahu tweeted before the take-off.

In his remarks on Sunday, Netanyahu called the tour a "historic" one and said that the two normalization treaties he had reached in a month would bring "an economic windfall" for Israel.

Many of the Gulf kingdoms have long been cultivating under-the-radar ties with the Jewish state in a process that was sped up by the presence of a common threat -- the post-Islamic Revolution Iran -- and the efforts of former US President Barack Obama to disengage from the Middle East.
