Interim Charge d'Affaires calls for 'end to incitement, a return to calm' in the city

The US embassy in Jerusalem voiced concern over the night-time clashes in the Israeli capital on Friday after a night of violence.

"We are deeply concerned about the incidents of violence in Jerusalem over the last several days," the interim Charge d'Affaires Jonathan Shrier said.

"We hope all responsible voices will promote an end to incitement, a return to calm, and respect for the safety and dignity of everyone in Jerusalem.

The statement followed a night of clashes and violence in the holy city as a group of some 300 far-right Jewish activists clashed with the East Jerusalem Palestinians.
