Jewish state registers 200,041 COVID-19 cases as death toll rises to 1,316

Israel registered close to 7,000 coronavirus infections in 24 hours on Tuesday -- the country's highest figure to date, new data released by the Health Ministry showed.

With a total of 61,165 screening tests conducted throughout the state, 6,923 cases tested positive. Since Tuesday midnight, the ministry added 974 new cases as well.

The country's coronavirus count has thus surpassed the 200,000 mark with 200,041 confirmed cases since the outbreak of the pandemic in March.

Despite the influx of cases, the number of COVID-19 patients in serious condition reduced Wednesday to 634 from 669 on Monday. Read more at i24
