Less than 24 hours before start of lockdown, gov't mulls more restrictions

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu summoned Thursday a limited meeting of experts to deliberate imposing further restrictions on the public during the three-week lockdown period.

According to outlet Ynet, these restrictions will come into effect on Monday and will mostly be work-related.

Pandemic czar Prof. Ronni Gamzu was slated for a press briefing at 5:30 pm (Israel Summer Time) but postponed it to attend the meeting.

The lockdown, which is set to come into effect Friday at 2 pm, was criticized in some quarters -- including by government officials -- for being “too soft.” Read more at i24
