The commander of the elite Sayeret Matkal, Colonel J, and his deputy went into quarantine after a female soldier in the unit was diagnosed with coronavirus, Galei Tzahal reported.

Dozens of other headquarters soldiers from the unit were sent to quarantine as well, according to the report.

An IDF spokesperson said in response, "A coronavirus patient was identified last week in one of the intelligence branches. To prevent further infection, dozens of headquarters personnel serving as combat supporters were proactively quarantined."

The spokesperson stated further, "Although not in direct contact with the patient, the unit commander and his deputy decided to isolate themselves from the unit, from the rest of the unit's commanders and soldiers, until receiving a response to a corona test they took following the incident.
