Hamas’s leadership saw Operation Guardian of the Walls as a victory, newly uncovered internal correspondences have revealed by an N12 report on Saturday.
The correspondences revealed that Yahya Sinwar, then Hamas’s military chief, used the 2021 truce to lure Israel into complacency while planning the October 7 attacks.
The report describes the documents as revealing a “calculated strategy designed to exploit the internal weaknesses of Israeli society and bring about its collapse from within.”
Sinwar reportedly saw the temporary ceasefire as a strategic victory that was a win-win scenario for Hamas and a lose-lose scenario for Israel.
“It is likely that this move, which would be acceptable to most countries in the world, would not be acc...

Ireland's President Michael D. Higgins criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in comments made to the press following the funeral for Pope Francis on Saturday.
President Higgins said it was not wrong to "criticize a prime minister who is strengthening an army that is in breach of international humanitarian law, and many other aspects of international law, if there is no respect for civilian rights, in addition to women and children."
He went on to say that it is "outrageous" that those who critique the Israeli government's policies are labelled antisemitic. "Many people in Israel do oppose those policies," President Higgins added.
President Higgins called it a "great lie" to suggest that those who oppose Israel's military action in Gaza are supporting ...

Egypt and Qatar have proposed a new offer for a six-month ceasefire in Gaza, the release of all hostages, and the release of convicted terrorists, Asharq Al-Awsat reported.
Earlier, Hamas told AFP that the terror group would be willing to agree to a deal releasing all 59 remaining hostages at once, as well as to a five-year ceasefire with Israel.
Osama Hamdan, a Hamas official in Lebanon, said that the terror group "will respond to any initiative which discusses complete withdrawal from Gaza, opening of the crossings, a fair prisoner swap, and no intervention in reconstruction."
According to another report, Hamas agrees to remove its members from Gaza, on condition that Israel provide guarantees that they will not be persecuted or eliminated.

A powerful explosion at the Port of Shahid Rajaee in Bandar Abbas, Iran, left hundreds injured.
The Saturday blast left at least 14 dead and around 700 injured, some seriously, state media said.
An Israeli source said that Israel was not involved in the explosion.
In recent months, shipments with chemicals used as fuel for mid-range rockets have been brought to the port. Some of the rockets were launched at Israel.
An Iranian government spokesperson said that a final determination of the cause will take time, but in the meantime, the containers which were stored at the port - and which may have contained chemicals - exploded.

Baltimore, MD - April 25, 2025 - As Maryland grapples with financial challenges and unpredictable federal cuts, top political leaders are bracing for rating agencies to potentially lower the state’s top-tier bond rating.
A downgraded rating could mean higher borrowing costs and a hit to Maryland’s creditworthiness at a time when state lawmakers recently closed a multibillion-dollar budget deficit.
Democrats are quick to blame President Donald Trump’s federal overhaul for the state’s dismal financial outlook, while Republicans blame Democrats, who hold a supermajority in Maryland, for fiscal mismanagement.
Typically, ratings are downgraded when income versus expenditures tip out of balance and it appears deficits could persist in the future, according to Yuval Bar...

The FBI has arrested a Wisconsin judge for allegedly hiding an illegal immigrant in her jury room in order to stop that person from being arrested by ICE, Fox News sources say.
Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan was arrested and charged with obstruction of an official proceeding Friday morning after evidence came to light that she shielded the migrant from ICE agents, according to federal law neforcement sources.
Federal agents from ICE, FBI, CBP and DEA attempted to arrest the undocumented male following his scheduled criminal court appearance on April 18, federal law enforcement sources tell Fox News. That’s when federal law enforcement sources say Judge Dugan demanded that the officers proceed to the chief judge’s office. U.S. President Donald Trump was interviewed by Time magazine and claimed that it is possible to reach a nuclear agreement with Iran even without attacking the nuclear facilities.
He stated that he is willing to resort to a military strike if necessary, but is also ready to have a direct conference with Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to avoid war.
Trump was asked about reports that he prevented an Israeli attack in Iran and denied them once again, saying that he did not actually prevent the attack. Trump claims to have limited his involvement to stating that he would prefer a deal instead, and warning Netanyahu that the USA would not be dragged in if Netanyahu decided to start a war.
At the same time, Trump pledged that he would lead the attack if negotiations to prevent I...
Jerusalem, Israel - April 25, 2025 - As previously reported by Chaim V’Chessed, a significant travel update took effect at the start of 2025: all travelers to Israel are now required to complete an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before departure. Without an approved ETA, airlines will not permit passengers to board flights to Israel—with the exception of Israeli passport holders. Even Israeli citizens need an ETA – if traveling on a foreign passport.
With the conclusion of the busy Pesach travel season, many are now returning to Israel after the holiday, while others are arriving for the first time. Whether you’re a seasoned visitor or a newcomer, it is absolutely vital to confirm that you have a valid ETA in hand before traveling.

Baltimore, MD - April 25, 2025 - Maryland counties’ air pollution continues to worsen, especially in Baltimore County, according to a newly published report, which found more ozone, smog and fine particles aloft across the state.
In its most recent “State of the Air” report, documenting air quality data from 2021 to 2023, the American Lung Association found that almost all Maryland counties reported worsening air quality in terms of both ozone smog and fine particle pollution from last year’s report. Of the state’s 24 counties, Maryland reports data on particle pollution in only 11, and high ozone days in 15.
The report said wildfire smoke from Canada in 2023 that moved into the state likely contributed to Maryland’s poorer air quality.
