Annapolis, MD - Aug. 9, 2025 - The Maryland House Republican Caucus sent a letter to Governor Wes Moore on Friday expressing strong opposition to a $100,000 settlement approved by the Board of Public Works in a lawsuit involving the University of Maryland and Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP).

In the letter, Republican lawmakers criticized the decision, calling it “a slap in the face to Marylanders” and accusing SJP of operating as “a de facto wing of Hamas.”
The legislators argued that taxpayer dollars should not be used to fund what they describe as a “radical antisemitic organization.”

Baltimore, Md - Aug. 9, 2025 - A man has been charged in connection with an antisemitic attack on a Jewish- and Israeli-owned business in Baltimore County, officials announced Saturday.
39-year-old Jonathon Wagner faces multiple counts of malicious destruction of property, including one charge based on race/religion.
The charges stem from an incident that occurred just before midnight on August 6 in the 6000 block of Falls Road, where property was vandalized in what police say was a targeted act.
The victim had Israeli flags displayed outside the property, and investigators believe the vandalism was specifically directed at those displays.
Wagner is scheduled to appear in court on October 7, 2025, at the Towson District Courthouse.

Iran has moved its remaining nuclear scientists into hiding for their safety, after Israel in June eliminated over 30 of the scientists during Operation Rising Lion, The Telegraph reported Saturday.
The remaining experts have been moved into hiding, with many now residing in safe areas in Tehran and along the northern coastline.
According to the report, Israeli intelligence reportedly monitors a list of about 100 scientists, who must now choose between continuing their work despite the risks, or pursuing alternative careers.
