Columbus, OH — June 24, 2025 - Today, in a Franklin County Court decision, Judge Jaiza Page ruled that Ohio’s EdChoice private school voucher program is unconstitutional, asserting that the program unlawfully diverts state funds from public schools.
Agudath Israel strongly disagrees with this decision and believes it fails to consider the fundamental rights of families to choose the best educational setting for their children, as well as past precedent.
“While we profoundly respect the judicial process, we vehemently disagree with the court’s interpretation of Ohio’s Constitution and believe the EdChoice program remains a constitutionally sound mechanism to empower families,” said Rabbi Yitz Frank, Executive Director of Agudath Israel of Ohi...
Baltimore, MD - June 24, 2025 - Today, the Department of Public Works (DPW) halted trash and recycling collections at 3:30 PM due to excessive heat. The impacted routes are located on the city’s westside. In addition, DPW’s Recycling Drop-Off Centers and the Northwest Transfer Station will close early at 5:00 PM.
The safety of DPW employees is a top priority as the city experiences prolonged high temperatures this week. In response to the extreme heat, DPW is adjusting operations to protect frontline workers and comply with Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH) heat-related illness prevention guidelines. DPW’s Heat Illness Prevention Plan (HIPP) is currently active and informs the department’s daily approach to worker safety. As temperatures exceed...

Annapolis, MD - June 24, 2025 - Maryland plans to implement a hiring freeze next month as state officials examine options to cut costs.
The governor's office outlined in an email sent to state workers on Tuesday the state's efforts. Gov. Wes Moore said a state hiring freeze will take effect on July 1.
This comes as state leaders are working to find "cost savings and enhanced efficiency" without personnel reductions, such as consolidating facilities.
"As a critical means to achieve that end, the budget requires the executive branch to make $121 million in General Fund personnel cost reductions in fiscal year 2026," Moore said in the email that was sent from the Maryland Department of Budget and Management.
Changes to state workforce to find cost reductions

Jerusalem, Israel - June 24, 2025 - Ben Gurion Airport to Fully Reopen; Schools and Offices Set to Resume Regular Operations
With the fragile but hopeful ceasefire between Israel and Iran now in effect, Israel is moving swiftly to return to routine – particularly in the realm of travel and public services.
Ben Gurion Airport will fully reopen on Wednesday, June 25, and will operate 24 hours a day, marking a major step toward restoring normalcy. While most foreign carriers continue to suspend service, El Al is expected to operate an expanded flight schedule both to bring back stranded Israelis from abroad and to fly out non-Israelis currently in Israel seeking to return home.
El Al passengers who hold tickets for flights that were previously canceled or rescheduled are advised to c...
Israeli intelligence assesses that US and Israeli strikes set back Iran’s nuclear program by “several years,” but did not completely destroy it, as US President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed, a senior Israeli official tells The Times of Israel.
The Israeli intelligence assessment is constantly being updated and refined, and a more concrete understanding of the status of Iran’s nuclear program will be available in the coming weeks, the senior Israeli official says.
The Israeli official argues that the military strikes were still worthwhile because the negotiations that the US had previously been pursuing with Iran would not have been able to achieve such results.
Moreover, the strikes on the nuclear program along with other military targets in Iran will serv...
The Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, chaired by MK Yuli Edelstein, held a closed session today at the Kirya military headquarters, with the participation of Defense Minister Israel Katz.
During the meeting, an extensive briefing was given on the status of the war in Gaza, on the northern border, and in the Iranian theater.
The Defense Minister revealed that Iran had planned a surprise attack, and Israel preempted it. "The Iranians planned to strike first and launch between 400 to 500 missiles in the opening strike. If we hadn’t acted first, it would have been much harder for us. Our biggest challenge was opening the skies and neutralizing Iran's air defense systems. We controlled the skies and were able to continue."
He added, "During the war, we made a distinction and ...
An early US intelligence assessment indicates that the US military strikes on three of Iran’s nuclear facilities last week did not destroy the core components of Tehran’s nuclear program and likely only set it back by months, CNN reports, citing three people briefed on it.
“This alleged assessment is flat-out wrong,” CNN quoted White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt as saying
Explosions were heard in northern Tehran after US President Donald Trump called for all Israeli fighter jets to leave Iran's airspace.
IDF sources have confirmed to The Jerusalem Post that the air force did in fact strike one radar north of Tehran. A symbolic strike to straddle the need to respond to Iran's attack on the North, while respecting Trump's demand to do nothing or at most respond symbolically.
Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered strikes in Tehran after Iran launched two missiles at northern Israel, hours after the ceasefire had taken effect.
"I have instructed the IDF to respond forcefully to Iran's violation of the ceasefire with intense strikes against regime targets in the heart of Tehran," Katz said in a stat...

President Donald Trump lashed out at Israel on Tuesday after Iran broke the ceasefire he brokered between the two countries.
According to the President, "Israel unloaded a lot, and now I just heard that Israel went out because they felt it (the ceasefire) was violated by one rocket that didn't land anywhere. That's not what we want, I tell you that."
While speaking with the press before leaving for the NATO summit, Trump expressed his frustrations, stating: "I'm not happy with Israel either."
He added: "I gotta get Israel to calm down now."
The President claimed that both Israel and Iran violated the ceasefire, but noted: "I don't think they did it intentionally, they couldn't bring people back.
He reiterated his anger with Israel's intention to...
