Baltimore, MD - Aug. 12, 2025 - On Monday, August 11, 2025, a remarkable scene unfolded at the historic Bnai Israel Cemetery in Baltimore. The usually quiet resting place of the great gaon and tzaddik, HaRav Michoel Forshlager, zt"l, was filled with the heartfelt voices of hundreds of men who had come to begin a mission of chessed and justice with tefillah at his kever.
The group, traveling on approximately ten buses, were participants in a special trip organized by the Tzedek Association, under the leadership of Rabbi Moshe Margaretten, shlita. The organization is renowned for its tireless efforts on behalf of incarcerated Jews and for its work in advocating for criminal justice reform. Their mission to Washington, D.C., began not in the halls of government, b...
A Jewish couple has reportedly been attacked in Venice by three men calling the husband a “dirty Jew,” according to Italian media.
The Venice newspaper Il Gazzettino reports that the man and the woman, American tourists in the Italian city for a brief vacation, belong to the Chabad-Lubavitch Hasidic group and were therefore very recognizable as Jewish, with the man sporting a kippa and a long beard. The woman is five months pregnant.
According to Il Gazzettino, which quotes anonymous witnesses, the tourists were taking a walk near the iconic Rialto Bridge in the city center late Saturday night, when three men began harassing them, unprovoked. The men threw water at the couple and spat on them, before one of the aggressors freed his large dog from the leash and ...
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu published a video message to the people of Iran in which he noted the Iranian government's responsibility for the country's severe water crisis and offered Israel's assistance and expertise in overcoming the crisis.
“Greetings from Jerusalem, To the proud people of Iran," Netanyahu began. "Your leaders forced the 12 Day War on us, and they lost miserably. They lie through their teeth, but on rare occasions, they tell the truth."
"A few days ago, the Iranian President said: ‘We have problems with water, electricity, money and inflation - where don't we have a problem? There won't be any water in the dams by September or October’," he said. "He's right. Everything is collapsing. In this brutal summe...
Deltona, FL - Aug. 12, 2025 - A teen spent his first day of school in the hospital after he was hit by a car while riding an e-bike and then dragged 15 feet, becoming trapped under the car.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office (VSO), the 14-year-old boy was riding his e-bike to his private school along Howland Boulevard when he approached Roble Lane. Deputies say that as the teen crossed the Roble Lane crosswalk, the driver of a Kia Soul entered the crosswalk at a low speed in an attempt to turn onto Howland Boulevard.
VSO says the vehicle struck the victim, dragged him 15 feet, and then came to a stop with the victim trapped under the vehicle.
Witnesses and a passing tow truck driver stopped to help the victim and were able to lift the vehicle off the 14-year-old, who ...
The Civil Rights Division’s investigation was conducted pursuant to Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination, harassment, and abuse based on race or national origin, by recipients of federal financial assistance. The Division finds that GWU took no meaningful action and was instead deliberately indifferent to the complaints it received, the misconduct that occurred, and the harms that were suffered by its Jewish and Israeli students and faculty. The Justice Department will seek immediate remediation with GWU for its civil rights violations.

Over the past six months, French authorities have quietly stopped renewing work visas for El Al flight security personnel employed in Paris as ITAN workers (Israeli citizens supporting diplomatic missions) through the Israeli embassy, sources familiar with the situation told Ynet on Monday, explaining that the decision stems from rising tensions between Israel and France over the Gaza war and attributing it to anti-Israel motives within Parisian authorities. The work visas previously granted to the Israeli security staff allowed them to live and work legally in France. Now, with the visa renewals halted, some of these workers find themselves residing in the country illegally. While some remain in France without valid permits, others have been forced to obtain diplomatic visas through the Is...
We live in a world that’s overflowing with entertainment.
Screens light up every pocket. There’s always a new game, a new video, a new thrill. Fun comes packaged, polished, and ready to consume; delivered instantly, without effort, without connection. It’s loud. It’s bright. It’s everywhere.
But the thing about that kind of fun is that it fades. You enjoy it, and then it’s gone, leaving you looking for the next thing. What lasts are the moments that are real; the ones shared with people you care about, the ones built out of nothing but energy, imagination, and togetherness.
That’s where camp, and especially Camp Kol Torah, comes in. Here, the magic doesn’t come from flashing lights or special effects. It comes from people. From campers and...
Baltimore, MD - Aug. 11, 2025 - Maryland’s power grid faced another stress test Monday as thousands of residents were hit with outages — a sign that the state’s electricity supply remains vulnerable as summer demand increases.
Some 4,000 Marylanders lost power, according to BGE’s outage map, during the peak of Monday’s blackouts after the Baltimore-area utility issued a warning about an “unplanned disconnection” at a key regional power plant — a disruption severe enough to trigger an emergency energy conservation request to all customers.
At the direction of PJM Interconnection, the Mid-Atlantic region's power grid operator, BGE was issued a 'load shed directive' on Monday, August 11, 2025, to maintain the integrity of ...
The European Union (EU) has condemned the deaths of five Al Jazeera journalists in an Israeli airstrike near al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, including correspondent Anas al-Sharif, AFP reports.
The statement was issued Monday by EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas following a virtual meeting of EU foreign ministers focused on the ongoing war.
"The EU condemns the killing of five Al Jazeera journalists in an (Israeli military) airstrike outside al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, including the Al Jazeera correspondent Anas al-Sharif," Kallas said.
The IDF had issued a statement on Sunday in which it clarified that Sharif, despite working as an Al Jazeera journalist, had led a Hamas terrorist cell and was responsible for advancing ro...
US President Donald Trump told Israeli media that he does not expect the Hamas terrorist organization to agree to a deal to release the hostages under the current circumstances.
Speaking with Channel 12 News correspondent Barak Ravid, Trump stated: "They (Hamas) are not going to release the hostages in the current situation. I think it will be very difficult to achieve that."
Trump refused to say whether he supports the decision made by the Israeli government to conquer Gaza City and emphasized that Israel must decide what it must do to bring the hostages home and end the war.
He also stated that Hamas "cannot stay in Gaza." He also stated that it was important to "remember October 7th."
Trump spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu yesterday (Sunday). The Prime Minis...
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided not to pursue any partial deal with the Hamas terrorist organization, Channel 12 News reported this evening (Monday).
Sources close to Netanyahu stated that the Prime Minister will be willing to negotiate under the conditions that he set for the end of the war, and only if all the hostages are returned - all of them. Until then, Israel will not negotiate on a deal that does not return all of the hostages.
With this new policy, Netanyahu has adopted the position of Minister Ron Dermer, who has opposed partial deals that would allow Hamas to continue to hold some of the hostages and to remain in power.
Yesterday, Netanyahu held a press conference explaining the Cabinet's decision to approve a military operation to conquer Gaza C...
In an interview with British journalist Piers Morgan on Monday, US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee offered a staunch defense of Israel’s actions in Gaza and sharply criticized the Hamas terrorist organization, particularly over its opposition to the humanitarian food initiative, the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).
“Why does Hamas hate GHF?” Huckabee asked. “One of the things they demanded in one of the negotiations just two and a half weeks ago was that GHF had to be shut down. Why would Hamas want to shut it down?”
According to Huckabee, the answer lies in Hamas’s grip on Gaza’s food economy. “GHF’s method of getting food has really hurt their capacity to control the food market and it's costing them money,” he said...
