Israeli Police Commissioner Roni Alsheich went to pay his respects on Thursday afternoon to the family of Maran Hagaon HaRav Aharon Leib Shteinman, ZATZAL, whose Levaya was on Wednesday. Menachem Shapira, Mayor of Bnei Brak, accompanied the Police Chief on the visit.

One of the Rabbis present Rabbi Eliyahu Kav, the Police Rabbi of the Tel Aviv District, told a story about how Rav Shteinman helped an officer, who was not Charedi, get the officer’s nephews, who were Charedi, admitted to Charedi yeshivos.

Family members recalled how Shapira was asked to admit the last of these nephews to a yeshiva back in Elul.

Following the story, Alsheich said that: “If everyone were like HaRav Shteinman, there would be no need for a police force at all.”

Family members then thanked the Police Commissioner for his assistance during the Levaya and praised Rabbi Kav for being an excellent go-between between the Rabbis and community of Bnei Brak and the police.
