Investigators from the Lahav 433 unit of Israel Police on Tuesday, 23 Menachem Av, arrested the head of the outlawed northern branch of the Israel Islamic Association; Sheikh Raid Salah. He allegedly broke laws barring incitement to violence and terrorism.

The interrogation of Salah is being carried out in conjunction with the Shin Bet and with the knowledge of Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit. The investigation is being headed by the Haifa District Prosecutor’s Office.

In January of this year, Interior Minister Aryeh Deri issued an order blocking Salah from leaving Israel to prevent him from speaking and fundraising abroad.

After the party was outlawed, Salah allegedly continued speaking out in defiance of the law, inciting terrorism and other illegal activities. He was arraigned and remanded on Tuesday.
