Today, Monday, 25 Sivan, a new bill will be submitted to the Knesset Secretariat requesting the revocation of citizenship from terrorists and the revocation of permanent residency from terrorists and their families. The bill is being promoted by Yisrael Beitenu chairman MK Robert Ilatov and Im Tirtzu.

The bill seeks to immediately revoke the residency status of terrorists and their families who murdered and injured Israelis in terrorist attacks. According to the bill, which was submitted for the first time by MK David Rotem and received the support of the Minister of Defense, Mr. Avigdor Lieberman, anyone who was involved in carrying out hostile terrorist activity either indirectly or directly, his and his family’s residency rights or any type of visa to live and work in Israel would be canceled.

Recently, there have been many cases in which Israeli citizens, including residents of the eastern capital were involved in terrorist attacks against citizens and residents of the state. In many cases, these terrorists held blue identity cards, allowing them to stay and move throughout the country.

The bill is being resubmitted to the Knesset Secretariat following the murder of Border Police officer Hadas Malka HY”D on Friday night at Shar Shechem in Jerusalem. The proposed amendments will enable the Minister of Interior to automatically deny the terrorists and their family members the permanent residency permit in Israel. This is legally required in the wake of dozens of petitions filed in recent years seeking to stop the efforts to revoke residency status from terrorists. In addition, the bill is also necessary in terms of security, in order to limit the stay of terrorists and their families in Israel and the possibility of their movement in Israel.

However, before taking measures to revoke a permanent residence permit in Israel, the Minister of the Interior will allow the licensee or his family member to prove that he had no direct or indirect involvement in the crime and thereby prevent the decree of revocation.

Revocation of the aforesaid license will also necessarily lead to the revocation of rights under the National Insurance Law (Bituach Leumi), such as survivors’ allowances, burial fees, etc., since it makes no sense for the state to support them. Today’s reality allows terrorists and their families to enjoy all the social and other benefits that they deserve as Israeli citizens. The addition of clauses as proposed in the law to the section on revoking the Israeli citizenship of terrorists who have been convicted of terrorist acts on a nationalistic background will serve as a proper punishment against those who oppose the existence of the state and do everything to harm it and its citizens.

Chairman of the Yisrael Beitenu faction, MK Robert Ilatov, submitted the bill saying: “We will no longer allow the absurd situation. On the one hand, terrorists and terrorist collaborators holding a blue ID card will enjoy all the rights and benefits that come to the citizens of Israel. The bill is intended to convey a clear message: anyone who tries to harm the State of Israel will not be part of it.”

“If there is an extreme situation in which a terrorist knows that it is more profitable to kill an Israeli than to steal his car,” Matan Peleg, director general of the Im Tirtzu movement, whose movement was a partner in promoting the bill, said: In prison, Israeli murderers enjoy far-reaching and far-reaching conditions compared to criminal offenders, in addition to the huge salaries the terrorists receive from the Palestinian Authority.

“The absurdity does not end here, since with the murder the members of the terrorist family receive a royal honor and their status is immeasurably improved for those who have not chosen the path of terror. This dangerous absurdity must be stopped. The immediate revocation of residency status from all members of the terrorist’s family is a necessary step in the fight against terrorism. If the law passes, every terrorist knows full well that while he harms an Israeli, he denies the rights of his children and his family with his own hands, and therefore he will think twice. This is the only way to create real deterrence.”
