Syaid Komboz, a 30-year-old Palestinian man, received a 17 year prison sentence Wednesday for stabbing a 21-year-old IDF soldier last December, according to various media.

The Jerusalem District Court which sentenced Komboz also ordered him to pay NIS 50,000 ($13,000) in compensation to the soldier he lightly wounded in the attack, which occurred near Jerusalem’s Central Bus Station.

According to Times of Israel, the judge in the case said Komboz has expressed no remorse for his actions, and that his sentence was passed down “in the interest of public safety.”

Over 30 Israelis were killed in a wave of terror attacks which occurred from September 2015 to September of this year. The soldier wounded by Komboz was transported to Hadassah University Medical Center in Jerusalem after the attack, where he was listed in moderate but stable condition.
