Jerusalem, Israel - Mar. 29, 2016 - Sounds of the Old City music festival opened in Jerusalem, Israel, on Monday night. This annual musical evening event which is free to the public, will run until Thursday night. March 31. Each night, from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, a line up of musicians will perform on nine stages around the Old City, including in the Cardo and the Tower of David moat, and new this year, a stage at Kikar Zion.

Crowds were smaller than usual opening night. Cold wintry weather, with threat of rain - as well as security concerns - kept people away. However, there were thousands of Israelis and visitors enjoying the live performances.

Popular singer Yitzhak Meir had his audience dancing along to his songs in the Cardo.

Three short videos from Meir's performance provide a taste of the fun. A free program brochure in Hebrew is available at Jaffa Gate with a map and list of the major and varied performers and DJs.
