Jerusalem, Israel - Jan. 26, 2016 - OurCrowd, one of the world's leading equity crowdfunding platforms, hosted 3,000 investors, entrepreneurs, corporate partners, bankers, lawyers and venture capitalists from over 50 countries to its second annual Global Investor Summit in Jerusalem. Monday, was cold and wet, with Jerusalem under threat of a major snow storm. Main eastern United States airports were closed because of snow accumulations. However, the room was full for the opening morning plenary of the conference event held at Binyunei Ha'uma, the Jerusalem International Convention Center, focusing on the theme "investing in the future."

Six major multinational corporations, Honda, Coca-Cola, Samsung Ventures, Philips, Intuit, and GE participated, sharing their plans for future innovations. Some of the day's presentations seemed and sounded like science fiction.

Led by Jon Medved, OurCrowd vets and selects opportunities, invests its own capital, and brings companies to its accredited membership of global investors. OurCrowd has raised over $200M for its 93 portfolio companies. Startup companies are diverse, but key areas are mobility/transportation, corporate innovation, health, cyber security, connected world, and mobile communications.

ReWalk was OurCrowd’s first portfolio company to complete a successful IPO on the NASDAQ.  Demonstrations of its use for mobility of disabled individuals, as well as UpnRide, a devise where a quadriplegic could stand and participate at the morning buffet, were impressive. The diversity of companies ranged from food tester Scio, MedTech, FinTech and WebTech companies and New Media, to an app MissBeez, who provided free manicures and O'Daddy, an app for better parenting.

The conference had a large number of workshops and presentations from the various companies. While some of the Israelis attending the whole day conference wanted to get their idea off the ground and others their companies going, or to find seed money, one panel after lunch was "How to Build a Billion Dollar Company."

A lively special event for VIPs and investors was held at the end of the day. A first-ever Crowdbuilding Hackathon, where hundreds of investors, fueled by ample Coca-Cola, beer and pretzels, as a group playing a game which came up with suggestions to support dozens of portfolio companies looking for a variety of needs and leads.

OurCrowd CEO Jon Medved said, "Israel's technology sector is setting new records and continues to boom. We are delighted that we have so many investors joining us to build the next generation of Israeli tech giants."
