A Toronto company has agreed to acquire the operator of Royal Farms Arena and Pier Six Pavilion.

The Globe and Mail reports the Toronto-based private equity company Onex Corp. will take over Pennsylvanuia-based SMG Holdings. A price wasn't disclosed. The deal is expected to close early next year.

SMG also operates venues including the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, Soldier Field and US Bank Stadium, plus a number of arenas and convention centers.

SMG took over management of Pier Six this year, under a seven-year contract with the city. It has operated Royal Farms Arena since 1999.
