Baltimore, MD - July 31, 2017:

Dear Community Members,

Since 7/19/17, the Pikesville Precinct has experienced three thefts of motor vehicles, one attempted theft of motor vehicle and one theft from motor vehicle.  The first theft of motor vehicle (a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee) occurred on 7/19/17 in the 200 block of Reisterstown Road, the second theft of motor vehicle (a 2001 Chrysler Town and Country) occurred on 7/20/17 in the 4200 block of St. Vincents Drive, the third theft of  motor vehicle (a 1997 Dodge Caravan) occurred on 7/30/17 in the 100 block of Russern Court, the attempted theft of motor vehicle (a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country) occurred on 7/28/17 in the 6900 block of Milbrook Park Drive and the theft from motor vehicle occurred on 7/30/17 in the 7100 block of Plymouth Road.  It is known that these older model Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep products are easy to steal, by defeating the vehicles ignition.  Please use a steering wheel lock or other locking device that will add an extra layer of security.  A “kill switch” or a battery disconnect can be installed, making the vehicle temporarily inoperable.  Always lock your vehicles and remove any spare keys or valet keys from the vehicle.

Please be vigilant of suspicious subjects or vehicles roaming through the neighborhoods. If you notice suspicious activity, safely get a good description of the subjects and contact 911.  Please lock your vehicles and remove all valuables, especially spare and valet keys.  We do offer Free Home Security Surveys where a uniformed officer will respond to your home and give you ideas and suggestions on ways to make your home and property more secure. Officers from the Pikesville Precinct are actively patrolling your neighborhood. If you have any questions or would like to have a Security Survey, please contact the Pikesville Community Outreach Team for assistance at 410-887-6775.
