During a Friday speech about the MS-13 gang epidemic, President Trump told an audience of police that they don't have to be "too nice" with the people they arrest, suggesting the rough treatment of suspects.

In Baltimore, his comments are not sitting well with city leaders.

Mayor Catherine Pugh's spokesman Anthony McCarthy says the comments were insensitive citing the city's effort to rebuild trust between communities and police after the in-custody death of Freddie Gray. He says police misconduct or acts of brutality are not a joking matter.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Councilman Brandon Scott says city residents should be "outraged" by the President's comments. In his words "It's an unfitting comment for a president of the United States, but it's a fitting comment for this president who is unfit to be president."
