The 2017 Maryland Legislative Session comes to a close on April 10.

Governor Larry Hogan had a lot to say about the past two and a half months when he joined The Jimmy Mathis Show on Saturday morning.

"It's sort of the good, the bad and the ugly," he said. "We got a lot of things done. ... Many of our initiatives have already been passed in both houses."

Though, Hogan mentioned that some terrible things have happened -- the 'sanctuary state' bill and the attorney general's new power, to name a few.

Maryland's first Republican governor since 2007 reiterated to Mathis that his goal, as governor, was to play 'goalie or backstop.'

"I knew up front and I said when I was running that my goal was not to pass a whole lot more laws and bills in Maryland, it was to stop a lot of bad things from happening," he said. "... We have done that."

Hogan has stopped tax increases and spending increases but said that real tax reform is something that his administration would like to pass.

One thing is certain -- Hogan is optimistic about the closing weeks in Session 2017.

"We've had a lot more success probably in this session then we have in the first two," he said. "We've had a more robust agenda. "

We're still hoping to get a few more really good things done in the next two weeks."

Hogan also touched on the latest jobs numbers, his relationship with Baltimore City Mayor Catherine Pugh and the city's school budget.
