Baltimore, MD - Aug. 23, 2016 - On Motzei Shabbos Nachamu, a group from the 8:45 Minyan at Shomrei Emunah and friends from around the community gathered together with Rabbi Binyamin Marwick for an uplifting and heartfelt kumzitz.

Set against the beautiful and fitting backdrop of the Jerusalem stone in the Shomrei ‘Shevatim Gallery’, the kumzitz featured music led initially by Eli Cohen, Yitzi Kaplowitz, Eli Frenkel on guitars, and Yoni Spigelman on percussions.   The enthusiasm and singing increased as the band was joined by renowned guitarist and composer Avraham Rosenblum on guitar, and Eliezer Appel on clarinet.  Inspiring divrei torah were shared by Rabbi Marwick and Dr. Ronnie Samet, and in a particularly moving moment, Yitzy Kaplowitz played his new composition "Refaeinu" in the zechus for a refuah of Refael Daniel Mordechai ben Chaya Shifra

The kumzitz was a fitting example of what Shomrei’s new Shabbos-morning 8:45 Minyan has brought to the shul and community.  Only a few months old, this minyan already attracts a large crowd and is permeated with warmth and energy that is very attractive to the many young families which have recently joined the shul.  The minyan has earned the unofficial title of ‘The Dveykus Minyan’, and is followed each week by a sit-down Kiddush with singing, and a dvar torah by Rabbi Marwick.

Shomrei Emunah and 8:45 Minyan look forward to continuing to share the atmosphere of song and dveykus with the community during an ‘Elul Shabbos of Hisorerus’ with renowned singer and songwriter Eli Beer on September 17.   The weekend will include a free Motzei Shabbos Havadala concert; more details will be publicized over the coming weeks.
