Baltimore, MD - April 1, 2015 - The tragedy that, r’l,  occurred to the Sassoon Family in Brooklyn devastated a family and all of Klal Yisrael. To that end, a few cities around the world held gatherings to better educate the various Jewish communities and to reinforce fire safety standards when dealing with those items most associated with fire danger, specifically as it relates to Shabbos and yom Tov.

Baltimore's event held this past Monday, March 30th  - hosted by Betsy Gardner, Neighborhood Liaison/City-Wide Jewish Liaison from the office of Baltimore City Council President Jack Young (who was also in attendance) heard from the Baltimore City Police about their plans for our security coverage over Yom Tov as well as from Lt. Gerald Quarles, Fire Marshall and Fire Prevention of the Baltimore City Fire Dept. Councilwoman Rikki Spector was in attendance as was  Engine 45 from Glen Avenue Fire House, under the leadership of Captain Jason Turner and his crew were also in attendance.

The main presenter, Dr. Eli Goldstein, President of Maccabee Aish and Hatzalah of Baltimore. Director, Student Health Services at Towson University, went through a series of scenarios that, while simplistic in nature, were extremely eye-opening. His overview is one that should be viewed by everyone in our community and all  communities around the globe BEFORE every Yom Tov.
