Following is an excerpt from Prime Minister Netanyahu's remarks today (Wednesday, 26 October 2016), at the dedication of the Adelson School of Entrepreneurship at IDC Herzliya:
"Today, the UNESCO Heritage Committee passed a decision which caused disappointment among the Palestinians and several Arab countries. It was supposed to be passed unanimously, by consensus, because the UNESCO Secretary General said that if it was not passed unanimously, then the decision would not be implemented. I would like to thank the leaders of Tanzania and Croatia for demanding a vote. I spoke with them and I very much appreciate their willingness to take a stand there. Because it reached a vote, it will not be implemented, because it was not unanimous.

The Israeli Antiquities Authority revealed today a papyrus document that contains the earliest known extra-biblical reference to Jerusalem.
A rare and important find was exposed in an enforcement operation initiated by the IAA’s Unit for the Prevention of Antiquities Robbery: a document written on papyrus and dating from the time of the First Temple (seventh century BCE) in which the name of the city of Jerusalem is clearly indicated. This is the earliest extra-biblical source to mention Jerusalem in Hebrew writing.

The U.N. refugee agency said Wednesday that at least 3,800 migrants have died in the Mediterranean Sea so far this year in an attempt to reach Europe, making 2016 the deadliest year on record.
The Geneva-based agency had warned Tuesday that this year's death toll was likely to exceed the 3,771 deaths reported for the whole of 2015.
"We're receiving more reports of deaths in the Med," spokesman William Spindler tweeted Wednesday. "We can now confirm that at least 3,800 people have died, making 2016 the deadliest ever."

Allies of Hillary Clinton felt threatened by the power of Sen. Bernie Sanders' candidacy and wondered about getting some signal of support from President Barack Obama in the heat of the Democratic primaries, according to the latest emails in a hacked trove from Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta.
Ahead of the Illinois primary in March, liberal operative Neera Tanden asked Podesta, who formerly worked on Obama's transition in 2008, if the president could give any kind of indication that he was supporting Clinton over Sanders.
Tanden asked Podesta whether Obama could "even hint of support of Hillary before Tuesday?"
Obama stayed officially neutral in the primaries until Clinton clinched the nomination in June.

The security coordinator of Hevron will take the stand today, and is expected to confirm or deny previous statements made under oath.
The security coordinator for the Jewish community in Hevron, Yoni Bleichberd, is set to testify Wednesday at the military court adjudicating on the case of Elor Azariya, now on trial for shooting a wounded terrorist.
Bleichberd’s testimony is expected to have dramatic significance, as Hevron Brigade Commander Yariv Ben-Ezra had previously testified that Bleichberd, who was present at the scene during the incident in question, had told him, upon his own arrival at the scene, that the reason for the shooting was unclear.

Archaeologists have uncovered even more evidence of the ancient Jewish connection to Jerusalem — this right after UNESCO and the Palestinian Authority (PA) declared that Jews have no ties to the holy city. Talk about irony.
The latest discovery is a site where the Roman army assaulted Jewish forces guarding the outer walls of Jerusalem, during the Second Temple period. The find further discredits the lies of the UN and the PA.
The Romans were attacking Jewish forces; no evidence was found of any Palestinian forces in the area. The assault took place during the Second Temple period — the temple that the PA says never existed.

Prosecutors in Israel on Wednesday charged 13 people with inciting violence and terrorism after a wedding video showed far-right Jews dancing with guns and knives and guests mocking the death by arson of a Palestinian toddler.
The amateur video of the wedding in Jerusalem in December was broadcast on Israeli television, causing an outcry. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said its "shocking images show the true face of a group that constitutes a danger" to Israeli society.
Court officials in Jerusalem said 13 wedding participants - including the bridegroom - were indicted on Wednesday on charges of inciting violence or terrorism.
The crimes carry a penalty of up to five years' imprisonment. Pleas have yet to be entered.

DETROIT (AP) — Subaru is recalling more than 100,000 of its top-selling models in the U.S. because a turbocharger air pump can run continuously, overheat and could cause fires.
The recall covers certain 2007 to 2009 Legacy and Outback vehicles, some 2008 to 2014 Imprezas and certain 2009 to 2013 Foresters. All the cars and SUVs have turbocharged engines. Subaru says in government documents that a relay controlling a secondary air injection pump can fail, causing the pump to run continuously. If it overheats, it can melt and catch fire.

The inbound upper level of the George Washington Bridge was closed by an immigrant rights protest on Wednesday morning, snarling traffic on one of the region's most important crossings at the height of rush hour.
Delays at the bridge for traffic heading into New York from New Jersey were up to nearly 90 minutes; traffic cameras showed bumper-to-bumper traffic barely inching along.
The protesters apparently chained themselves across the roadway to block traffic, unfurling large banners in an attempt to spread their message. One banner appeared to read "Resist, Organized, Act Up!"

Jews in Israeli Ben Gurion International Airport were quite taken aback after they saw several Turkish Muslims praying in the airport’s synagogue, apparently mistaking it for a mosque.
The footage was released by Facebook user Yossi Cohen on Monday. “Today at the synagogue in Ben Gurion airport,” he wrote under the video.
They were all members of one Turkish family, according to Breaking Israeli news. They were apparently looking for a place to pray and found a synagogue which was empty. It was just before the holiday of Simchat Torah, a Jewish holiday that marks the end of the annual cycle of public Torah readings and the beginning of a new cycle. Religious Jews do not usually travel on such days.

MIAMI – Eight people have been charged in the theft of 23,000 Apple iPhones using a disguised tractor-trailer to steal the cargo at Miami International Airport.
The FBI said in a news release Tuesday that the suspects were arrested in the Miami area. They face conspiracy to possess stolen goods and other federal charges. The stolen phones are valued at $6.7 million.
According to a grand jury indictment, the group used false identification and a tractor-trailer altered to appear like it belonged to a legitimate company to steal the iPhones in April.

SAN FRANCISCO — The American Academy of Pediatrics is calling for infants to be kept in their parents' bedroom at night for six months to a year to reduce the risk of sleep-related death.
The new recommendations say babies should sleep on a separate surface, in a crib or bassinet, and never on something soft. The guidelines say babies should sleep in the same room as their parents, preferably until they're a year old. The nation's most influential pediatricians' group says it updated its safe-sleep guidance because of studies suggesting that room-sharing reduces the risk of sudden infant death syndrome by as much as 50 percent.

An Israeli soldier was wounded by gunfire along the Lebanese border on Wednesday, and IDF spokesperson said.
“Shots were fired towards [IDF] forces on the border with Lebanon near Metullah, injuring a soldier,” a statement issued by the IDF read.
The wounded soldier was reportedly struck in the arm by gunfire. His injuries have been classified as light. He received first aid on the spot before being evacuated to a hospital for further treatment.
Initial reports indicate the soldiers were attacked by terrorists who fired from inside of a vehicle on the Lebanese side of the border.
After coming under fire, IDF forces returned fire, striking the terrorists’ vehicle.
